Maine Housing Report for October 2020
Not a surprise, but still impressive to see, the Maine Assoc. of Realtors October 2020 Maine Housing Report numbers released today revealed HUGE leaps in both the number of homes sold & values. Oct. 2019 vs. Oct. 2020 saw a 26.9% rise in the number of homes sold statewide. For median values, Oct. 2020 is 24.5% higher than Oct. 2019, coming in at a $280,000 value statewide. On the homefront, Hancock County saw the largest gain statewide (by a fair margin), with an eye popping 56.3% increase in number of homes sold in the 3rd quarter of 2020 vs. 3rd quarter 2019. For median home values, 3rd quarter home values in Hancock County rose 26.1% 3rd quarter 2020 vs. 3rd quarter 2019 to what is likely the highest ever median home value in Hancock County, $290,000. Another anti-surprise to see Hancock County have the largest leap in the state in number of home sales. There’s an awful lot to like here. Undoubtedly these gains are largely powered by the current pandemic and all but assure that 2020 will surpass 2019 as the most active real estate calendar year on record.
