A weekend treat!  Check out this 1954 editorial film piece by E.B. White entitled: “A Maine Lobsterman”.  Absolutely classic footage fishing the waters off Deer Isle.  It’s amazing to see how much and how little has changed in the world of lobstering.  I especially enjoy the final minute of the film, hearing the very accurate essence of lobstering that E.B. paints (excepting that there’s plenty of woman, not just men, lobstering these days!).  Really cool to hear E.B.’s voice, too.  Thanks to the Island Institute for turning us on to this neat video and to Untamed Mainer for posting it on YouTube.  Subscribe to the Island Institute’s newsletter for more sweet Maine content like this!
